The FINNOV Coordinator, Prof Mazzucato, was invited to take part in the hearing on "Social Innovation" with Ms. Patricia Reilly, a member of the cabinet of the European Commissioner responsible for research and innovation. The hearing was aimed to provide fresh insights on "Social Innovation" (what it is, how it works, what are the advantages, how it is linked with technological innovation, etc) to help with the preparation of  the European Commission "Research and Innovation Plan" due to be published in September 2010. The hearing was attended by representatives from European Commission's Directorate-General for Research, Bureau of European Policy Advisers and Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development. During the event, Prof Mazzucato distributed to the hearing delegates a copy of the FINNOV position paper on the subject of "The Limits of the 3% R&D Target in Europe 2020".
