Peter Droell
European Commission
Peter Droell is in charge of Innovation Policy Development in the European Commission's Research and Innovation Department. In this capacity, he oversees the implementation of the "Innovation Union", the European Innovation strategy he has co-authored.
Peter is a lawyer by training with a doctorate degree in German constitutional law and European law. He worked as a lawyer in a German law firm before joining the European Commission in 1991. He has held various positions in the European Commission (financial control, environment, negotiations for the 2004 enlargement, Head of Cabinet of the Science and Research Commissioner Janez Potočnik, enterprise and industry) and works on innovation policy since 2008.
