Further to The Future of Business 2011 Report launch on 2nd June 2011, the UK Business Secretary Vince Cable said:

"This report's findings are bright for the future of the British economy and especially bright for British manufacturing. We want to see technological advances generate new growth and new jobs across the country. It is encouraging to see so many of the contributors to this report share that vision.

"To make this happen we are creating 10 Technology Innovation Centres to draw on leading edge research, investing £1.4bn from the Regional Growth Fund in companies with ambitious expansion plans, supporting entrepreneurs and small firms with new lending from the banks and providing investment in apprenticeships to supply the high-value skills these businesses need.

"Manufacturing, enterprise and innovation are all key to our future success and I’m delighted to see the Future of Business report highlights substantial grounds for optimism in these areas.
